The ‘B’ Team is already practising for next year The new Trophy is shown to the Club
Saturday 13th October 2012 saw the finals of Rotary District 1100 Boules Competition at the Red Bull, Malmesbury. 11 teams took part and each team played six games
This was a most enjoyable day and the weather was kind to us. The final result was that in first place, winning all six games with a total of +56, was South Cotswolds B Team. In second place, winning five games with a total of +23, was South Cotswolds A Team.
This was the first year that the District Boules Competition had been formally recognised as one of the District sporting activities. The brand new
trophy was presented to South
Cotswolds B Team captain, Peter Sheppard, by the District Governor, David Houghton. The other members of the B team were Anthony St John Smith, Nigel Gilhead and Nigel Walker. The A Team was captained by Doug Hughes with Peter Wyman, David Holborow, Mary Hughes, and Andrew and Diana Lloyd.
Peter Holl, District Sports Office, said that he hoped the competition would continue. A raffle was held in aid of RC South Cotswolds nominated charities and President Philip was on hand to receive nearly £200. A big thank you to Andrew Lloyd for all the organisation.
The 2013 Festival of Boules will be held on 28th September, also at The Red Bull at Malmesbury.
