Preparations are now well advanced for the 25th Rotary Horseless Team Event (HTE) which will take place at its traditional venue in
Badminton
Park on Sunday 5th October, courtesy of His Grace the Duke of Beaufort.Athletes, fun-runners and walkers are invited to tackle the obstacles usually jumped by riders on horseback during the famous Badminton Horse Trials, over a 5 or 9-mile course.
The event, attracting over 1,000 competitors, raises a great deal of money through sponsorship, which goes to a wide range of local and national charities.Participants retain half of the money they raise by way of individual sponsorship for their choice of charity. This 25th anniversary year the main beneficiary nominated by South Cotswolds Rotarians will be ‘Hope for Tomorrow’, the mobile chemotherapy unit bringing treatment closer to the homes of cancer patients in the region. See their website: www.hopefortomorrow.org.uk
Full details and entry forms for the 25th HTE Challenge can be downloaded from the HTE link on this website. There are a number of entry categories where winning competitors are awarded trophies and all completing the course receive a commemorative HTE medal.
Many enter for the team Fancy Dress trophy, which is judged at 11.00am, thirty minutes before the mass start, and is well worth watching!Entry for spectators costs just £1.00 per carload. It’s a fun day out in beautiful surroundings, for runners, walkers and spectators alike.
